Everton’s Fixtures Decimated By TV Schedules

Everton’s fixtures have been pulled apart for the TV cameras for the first couple of months as Sky Sports and BT Sport look at our first few games and realise there are some crackers in there.

Only the games against Watford at home and Swansea away have survived as 3pm kick offs on the Saturday, with 5 of the first 7 matches being moved to Saturday lunchtime, Saturday tea time, Sunday afternoon or even Monday night! No sign of a Friday night game on the South coast unfortunately.

In fact that’s one of the more galling aspects of the TV companies scheduling these matches – why could they not make the Southampton away game a Saturday night game or a Friday night event? Most of the fans will now face a huge journey there on the Saturday morning with a very early start.

Of course we should not complain too much about this. Go back 12 months and every Liverpool game seemed to be shown live, and with each occasion bringing in both income and exposure across the world we should really embrace these televised events. Even if they are blooming hard to get to.

In addition the game on 3rd October that has not been announced as yet as being televised is the Merseyside Derby so I imagine that’ll be the normal Saturday lunchtime kick off on BT Sports.
